An Ordinary Person’s Response to the AI Era
In early 2023, when I first used ChatGPT, I realized a new era had arrived.
As a marketing and operations professional with over a decade of experience, I’ve witnessed the fierce competition in FMCG, the rapid growth of the internet industry, and the rise of B2B e-commerce. But no technological shift has made me feel both excited and anxious like AI.
Excited because AI provides individuals with unprecedented leverage. Anxious because if we don’t actively embrace change, we risk being left behind.
Why Now?
The idea of building this website had been brewing for a long time, but I only recently took action. Three key factors pushed me forward:
1. AI Has Lowered the Barrier to Content Creation
In the past, building a professional personal website required technical expertise or hiring developers. Now, with AI tools, I can quickly build, iterate, and optimize this site—from design to code, from content to SEO, AI helps at every step.
This made me deeply realize: AI doesn’t replace humans; it amplifies human capability.
2. Personal Brand Is Becoming the Most Important Asset
In an age of information overload, attention is the scarcest resource. And personal brand is the best way to capture it.
I’ve observed that those who consistently create value online are gaining more opportunities:
- More career choices
- Greater bargaining power
- More meaningful connections
- Larger influence
As Naval Ravikant says: “Productize yourself.” This is one of the most important survival strategies in the AI era.
3. Writing Is the Best Way to Think
I’ve always believed that writing is thinking refined. When you try to transform vague ideas into clear words, you’re actually engaging in deep thinking.
This website forces me to:
- Systematize knowledge: Organize scattered experiences into coherent frameworks
- Make public commitments: Use public writing to hold myself accountable to continuous learning
- Build connections: Attract like-minded people and form learning communities
